Karen Handel Wins Georgia Election
The highly anticipated election showed Republicans are still strong in Georgia.
While there were many whom were hopeful that Democrats could pull of a magic trick, anyone familiar with southern politics should have known better. Despite a strong runoff for Jon Ossoff, Karen Handel won the election Tuesday in Georgia.
Incomplete returns show Handel, winning almost 53 percent of the vote over Democrat Jon Ossoff. Ossoff recieved 47 percent, a strong showing, but this is an area where Republicans have held strong for decades. It allows them a sigh of relief but with it comes a warning.
Like it or not, public opinion regarding Trump will dominate the upcoming election.
According to state party officials, Handel is the first Republican woman to represent Georgia in the House of Representatives.
